Two women engaged in a counselling session

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Qualified and how long have you practised?

Yes, I am a qualified Relational Centred Counsellor. I first started offering counselling services in 2008 and have helped clients from the age of 10 upwards. My experience over that time has been wide ranging - not only private practice but through private employment, charitable work and on-site school placement.

What do you recommend - Online of Face to Face counselling?

The mode of therapy is very much in the hands of the client - whichever you feel comfortable with. My personal advice would always be to engage in face to face counselling as, in doing so, I believe the therapeutic relationship is strengthened and the potential results are optimised.

In what aspects of mental health do you have training?

Whilst my initial qualification was wide ranging in content, subsequent topic specific training has included:

  • Stress and Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Low Self Esteem

  • Relationship Problems

  • Shame

  • Bereavement

  • Attachment Disorder

How often should Counselling take place?

The early stages of counselling are absolutely key and an initial commitment to weekly sessions is advisable. In time, some longer term clients find that fortnightly or three weekly is sufficient for their personal needs.

I work long hours and cannot leave work. Do you offer counselling in evenings or over the weekend?

I offer counselling on two evenings each week and have a further limited availability on Saturday mornings.

How long will it take for you to make me feel better?

Every client is different. What is important to understand is that counselling is not a magic wand. What counselling does is enables you, the client, to explore your own feelings and issues. The more that a client takes therapy on board, the greater the benefits. Counselling is a means of supporting the individual to make their own positive steps on the road to recovery.
